Kremlin says worried by US visa problems of Aeroflot flight crews

MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- The Kremlin is worried with visa problems of the flight crews of Russian national air carrier Aeroflot, it looks like the U.S. has deliberately created the problem, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

“Of course, this is an issue of general concern in Moscow. We share the Foreign Ministry’s concern. It is obvious that there are no objective reasons for problems with visa activity of the U.S., as these reductions (of embassy personnel) did not cover the consular department,” Peskov said.

On Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Washington has prolonged the official waiting period for a visa interview to 250 days, or eight months, which led to Aeroflot having problems with securing visas for flight crews. The so-called visa blockade of Washington may lead to suspension of air travel between the two states.

“It is apparent that this is deliberate creation of problems that completely depends on our American colleagues. We are obviously concerned, as we would not like this to continue,” Peskov said.
